The sailwx.info database contains only a small fraction of the ships worldwide, those that participate in the World Meteorological Organization's program of voluntary at-sea weather reporting, and those vessels operating AIS transponders within range of a participating shore station. For the most part military vessels are excluded, but occasionally a Coast Guard ship will make a report.
The US Coast Guard maintains another database of ship names, callsigns, and inspection reports. The French Marine Meteorological Center maintains a database of VOS reporting vessels. If you can't find a ship's callsign in our database, try one of theirs.
If a ship is listed but has no last reported time or position, it means that the ship has no weather reports or AIS reports in our database.
